The Pug is a happy and cheerful little fellow that gets along with just about anyone

Pugs are little dogs with a wrinkly, short muzzled face, bulbous eyes, small folded ears, and curly piggy tails that snort like hogs. The Pug is well described by the phrase "multum in parvo" which means "a lot of dog in a small space." The Pug is a happy and cheerful little fellow that gets along with just about anyone. Pug aficionados swear that they are the best dogs in the world. Pugs are often referred to as the comedians of the dog world. A popular companion dog, the pug also excels in the show ring. AKC registered this breed in 1885.

They are small, compact, and sturdy dogs with a muscular build. Male dogs are typically 12-14 inches (30-36 cm) tall and they weigh 13-20 pounds (6-9 kg). Female dogs are usually about 10-12 inches (25-30 cm) tall and weigh about 13-18 pounds (6-8 kg). The coat is short and glossy, neither hard nor woolly. Their fine, glossy coats can be fawn, apricot, silver, black or apricot-fawn, with black markings on the face and ears. The legs are very strong, straight, of moderate length, and are set well under. Strong, straight legs give Pug dogs a distinctive jaunty gait that in ways resembles a waddle.

Pug — a lot of dog in a small space

Pug puppies or puglets, are extremely intelligent, sociable, have sharp hearing abilities and are very loyal to their owners. Pug puppies are dogs that come with comical personalities, lively expressions and cobby bodies and it is easy to see why more people want to take them in as pets. Pug puppies need basic training to shape their temperament as well as behavior habits. They demand a lot of attention and affection from their owners and may become jealous if they feel ignored or left out of family activities. They make a habit of following their owners every move and they love to curl up in a nice warm lap.

A loving, affectionate, yet not overly demanding dog, the Pug is well suited to those with no experience of dog ownership as well as the more experienced. They make great pets that are very well behaved and even-tempered around children, other pets, and visitors. This breed is excellent for an apartment environment. The Pug adapts well too many different environments. They can make a real delight for you and your family.
